West Jessamine advances to State Final Four

West Jessamine girls soccer made an incredible run in the post season to advance to the Kentucky State Final Four. Along the way they took District 27 title by beating Lexington Christian, 4-0 and Lexington Catholic, 1-0. Next up was 14th Regional play in Berea where they beat Madison Central, 3-1 and Lexington Catholic, 1-0. By winning the Region, West was able to host the Section 4 tournament. In Sectional Sweet 16 West beat Letcher County Central, 8-1. #6 Boyle County Rebels were next in the Elite 8. This game was epic as both teams played to a 0-0 tie in regulation. It was in the 2nd overtime that Freshman Sarah Wiggins hit the game winner sending her team on to the Final Four!
At the State Semi-Finals West Jessamine ran into the eventual State Champ, Notre Dame. Although WJ had the game close (2-1) late in the second half. Notre Dame proved to be too much and scored 2 more goals in the final 13 minutes to win, 4-1.
Tremendous year by the girls! West finished the season with a record of 19-7-2. Most wins in school history and advanced further than any other team from Jessamine County (boys or girls) since soccer was started in 1986.

Hispanic League

Above: Young boys watching the action of Hispanic League Championship game.
Below: Players waiting to get into the Championship game.
Furia Roja

This group of young men from Woodford Co., KY play indoor soccer at Sportsplex Arena in Nicholasville, KY. I referee at this indoor arena on the weekends. On this night, the young man on the front row far right (Jose #10) led the way as Furia Roja beat their opponent from Richmond, KY.
                                                                                                    Chelsea

Again from the Hispanic leagues. This team plays under the name Chelsea. In this picture they are wearing their Mexico away jerseys. This league is played at Champions indoor facility just north of Nicholasville.
Jose from the first picture also plays for Chelsea. He is second from the left on the back row. I enjoy ref'n this team. They are skilled and play an attacking style of soccer.
